I perform using an idiosyncratic setup of electromechanically controlled banjo, outfitted with solenoid motors, transducers, radio transmitters, and various objects and handmade electronics and software. Previous material for this setup was featured on Old Time Music, released via Tripticks Tapes, which featured on various year-end lists, including Bandcamp Daily’s “Best Experimental Music of 2022”, as well as the LP Pearls Ground Down to Powder, released last year by Full Spectrum. This solo project is an extension of my work exploring the relationships between experimental and traditional music, various forms of contemporary and obsolete audio tech, artificial intelligence and oral knowledge, alternative pasts/futures of Americana, and site-specific historical research and field recording.
A few short video clips of a previous live set are here, and more information on this solo project may be found here. I previously toured this material extensively in the US, UK and throughout Eastern Europe, at venues including KM28, Morphine Raum, Cafe Oto, Skanu Mezs, Pertin Valinta, Black Mountain College, and many others. More general info on my work can be found here.
If you might be interested in hosting, would May 30 through June 1 be available? Things are still a bit flexible, so if there might be other possibilities around then, please do let me know!
The setup is extremely minimal and 95% acoustic, only requiring access to a table, power, and a PA. Duration is generally about 30-35 minutes, so of course I am happy to share bills, split, etc. depending on other acts and curation.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration, and please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns!
All my best,
